a thousand miles or so ago, i developed a misfire. eventually it tripped my CEL light and i pulled a cylinder one misfire code. so, the first thing i did was change all of the original plugs. after a few hours work, i had all the plugs swapped and thought it had solved the problem. sure enough, not 5 miles down the road, it began doing it again. The next day i took it in to pull the codes again. this time it was a cylinder 7 misfire. so i swapped coils and found that that was the problem.
To my dissapointment, the misfire is still lingering. Only now it is very intermittent, misfires maybe once or twice at a light, and is to subtle to trip the light again.

Im afraid that this could be signs of my cam sprocket lossening. Ive already put my welding off long enough, and this would be a sure motivator unless there are other known V8 issues that could lead to this behavior.

Thanks for the reference. I wanted to put all new coils but the cams come first, then maybe new coils. to be completely honest, it doesnt bother me all that much, i just wanted to see if my cams were on the verge of failure.

If you're smart you'll do the rear coils when you get the cams done. Otherwise you have to pull all the intake and stuff off again. Try and do it all at once.

Definitely! i want to do a few other things too, so long as i have everything off. like clean the buff up my surge tank and the rest of the intake.
