Hello, I'm very happy to see that there is a forum dedicated to SHO's and I have a few questions.

1. Does ANYONE make clear, or euro styled tail lights for an 89 SHO (gen I)? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, and in that case I will be tinting the taillights.

2. Clear/Hidden corners for a Gen I? I'd really like to get rid of the amber reflector (if legal).

3. Wheel suggestions. I have the mesh weave (I think that's the name) wheels on my car and it just clashes with the color of my car (which i'm not going to mention, as to avoid flames)
17" is going to be good for me, because they are big, but generally cheaper than 18"s.
I want to spend about 500 for a set, and am currently looking at enkei rs6's. I like the color and design of the enekei RPM2 wheel, but cannot find anything similiar for a decent price. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks for your help in advance :D

1. No, I wish they did for GenII's though.

2. People have used vinyl or paint to cover it up and it looks very nice. I don't think you'll have any legal troubles by doing that.

3. www.tirerack.com and www.tires.com have a nice selection of wheels, did I mention mine are for sale? wink

BTW, welcome to the forum.....stick around and learn a little. thumbs_u

I've looked at those sites for wheels, and really haven't found anything I like.

I've seen a couple people here with Team Dynamics wheels that look really nice, but I can't seem to find anywhere that sells those wheels.

Are you sure I can just cover up the amber lenses with vinyl? Aren't they required by law to be there?

i wwwwaaaannnttt ur wheels... would you mind telling me how much they cost?
They are Team Dynamics Motorsports in 18"x8" in 235/40/18 Pirelli rubber, total with locks, balance, mounting, etc was $1972, this was back in 2000, they were $250/each should be closer to $200/each by now.

:( ... oh well... I guess I'll just have to admire yours.

I really like that style though. Its almost the same as the enkei rpm2. Can anyone think of a wheel that is close to either of these wheels and affordable?

Thanks.

I think I decided on enkei cdr9's

They have an offset of 38mm, this is perfect for a gen1 right?

the stats are...

Rims : Enkei CDR-9 17 x 7

Offset : +38

Bolt Pattern : 5 x 4.5(114.3-115) and 5 x 108

Finish : Silver Paint.

these will work without any problems right?

The lower your getting the more the rims will tend to stick out from the fender my 18's are 40mm, but 42-44mm would be a very close fit to the strut but also be in more compared to the fender.

The 38mm offset of the rims you want will fit but upfront will be flush with the fender or maybe even a bit out.

Funkdamonkman,
I too have the Team Dynamics Motorsports. When all was said and done I paid about 1200 for 16" Motorsports and BF Goodrich KDWS tires. I believe victoriatire.com has a whole selection of Team Dynamic wheels. Their prices are very good also.

Try out www.discounttire.com I got the 17 inch rage race 10's. Discount tire was the cheapest place I cound find for all types of rims. Plus, you don't have to pay those B.S shipping charges. I saw what I liked on the website, gave my local store a call, and was driving home on them 4 days later. Team Dynamics was just too expensive for what I was looking for and I was getting the run around from the distributor. Tirerack has a beautiful selection, but the shipping charges made my balls sore frown

FunkDaMonkMan:
will the tires rub if the wheel is flush with the fender? ... and how can the wheels be two sizes? .. 10 holes?

5 Lug Rims, 5 x 108 and 5 x 4.5(114.3)
Yes 10 holes and you will have less rubbing with the wheel closer out facing the road opposite to the axle, especially with a rim that is 7" wide. Its just a "looks" thing you have to deal with when the wheels stick out from the fender compared to the "tucked" in look with factory 16x6 slicers, some think it makes the car look beefy, IMHO i'd much rather have the rim be flush with the fender or tucked in closer to the strut.

i'm about 2 seconds away from buying the wheels, but my dad is concerned that if it is flush or sticking out, that the tires will rub.

will it?

also.. how close will i be on the back fender, because the wheels tuck under the fender, and it would not be possible for the wheels to stick out.

Will a wheel with a 38mm offset and 225 tires fit on my gen1?
Front shouldnt be a problem but the rear could be a problem if you have saggy springs.
