I do have to qualify my last post. Being retired I have the luxury of not having to drive the SHO in bad weather or use the wipers except occasionally when caught in the rain. I know on our "beatermobile" Sable, the Rain-X does need at least weekly application to keep beading the rain and making the snow and slush slide off.

rain sensing wipers

I have these wipers on a MB 2006 E320. they realy suck. they come on when it rains but have no intermittent speed other than in an extremely lite rain. First, i don't need a sensor to tell me when it starts raining and have little better to do at the time other than flip a switch. Second, they negate one of the better automotive inventions of the time --- intermittent wipers. these wipers are one more example of technology gone mad. Technology is developed to do something, in this case sense rain on glass, so it has to be used. never mind that it can't be used properly and in fact is a set backward.

Mine work fine NOW!! I had to replace the sensor. The new sensor had adhesive on the rim which helps to keep it close to the windshield. I lucked up and found the sensor on Ebay for $21.

I just had my sensor replaced by the Dealer, while waiting on the part they disconnected the sensor and the intermittent feature worked normally.

Both the autodim and the rain sensing wipers on my 12 work great.

For fun, I turned the wipers on the sensing setting at a car wash....neat to watch them adjust to the varying amount of moisture on the glass.

Both features work just as designed, for me.

Maybe an improvement for the current model year??

I like mine - esp. the auto hi/lo beam. Don't know about you, but I always thought it was a PITA to flip back and fore on a two lane with sporadic oncoming traffic. It's hard when you're already struggling with a cup of coffee, a donut, and texting at the same time.

Just unplug the sensor harness at the windshield. It should revert back to intermittent.

Lol, I came across this and figured....meh I'll reply and see if anyone is still kicking around here. I accidentally discovered the "unplug trick" after a windshield replacement. All of a sudden I had regular intermittent instead of rain sensing.

It is always slightly humorous when the wipers turn on for no reason on a sunny day. Gives you a "WTF" moment to brighten your day.

Ha ha, I will admit this does happen. My other half loves to point out when it makes random decisions.

I must be the lucky one to get an awesome sensor! Mine work great even in mist or light rain! They come on perfectly at the right times and the correct intervals.

maybe since i live in California, and it doesn't rain here, mine feel left out on occasion. When it does rain, they work like a champ.

It's just every now and then, you get a random swipe for no reason.
