Sometimes my radio works, some times it doesn't. I get a crackling connection coming from my speakers so Im assuming its a loose connection or something.

Is this common with these cars? I'm going to pull the radio tomorrow and check the connections behind it but anything else I should look at? Im sure if it was just a bad connection at one speaker, only that speaker would make the noise and the rest of the radio would work?

Mmm, assuming its all stock still...

Pull it out, the square connection I've seen go bad a number of times, just check it all. Alot of those wires can get easily frayed or wierded out, check it all somethings up back there.

A goofy connection to a speaker like that will cause exactly what youre describing, crackling, low volume, no sound.

On my car (which is not much over stock in the sound department) i had similar issues....there is a harness of wires on the passenger side under the carpet near where the passenger would prop up her right foot next to the seat by the door...it was a speaker wire connector. Worth a looksee.

Some times it works, and some times it doesnt. One time when I jump started it with a battery jumper it seemed to work ok when I would wiggle the battery cable. I got a new battery and new cables since then though and it doesnt work.

I dont know if that had anything to do with it though.

with mine i got stock 92 permium amp in there and on a humid day it does this... gets moisture into it and dosent work right away ... turn it up till the sound comes on (usually half deaf when it comes on) then slowly turn it down and after some use it will clean up and go away...

i tried to coat everything in die electric grease but didnt work any better...

some stock amps work perfect and others are funny.

The stock system has a lifespan. It has capacitors in it which, over time, leak out and become inoperative. This has happened to most all but the newest stock systems already.

It is only a matter of time before yours will die too. Sorry to sound pessimistic, but that's just the way it is.

It might be a loose connection, ****, it might be a bad amp (they die too), but eventually it's not going to work.

I would start looking at an aftermarket head unit for it. They can be had very cheap nowadays, and it is often easier and cheaper than trying to keep the stock system working.
