radio low volume

i have a 93 automatic with the JBL system.. with the volume low i get no sound. i can turn it up past halfway and the sound comes in. at full volume it is not loud at all. there is sound coming from all the speakers except the sub. pops when i hit the volume button too.. head unit? or amps?

Sub is probably blown, and the speaker amp is toast. Best option is to replace the radio with an aftermarket unit.

I get me new head unit in today.. aftermarket radio seemed like a great place to start for me. Good ones are so much cheaper now! I bought the harness that suppose to work with my amps. i hope this fixed it.. i dont want to deal with these door panels.. Replacing amps and speakers is my next step..

Are you talking about the harness that bypasses the amps? That's what I used when I upgraded and have had no problems at all.

RADIO IS WORKING NOW!!.. i got it installed.. i used the harness to keep the factory amps. while the sound is not top notch i do have working speakers now with a hd and sat radio and an aux jack.. when i wrap this project up i am going to take some pics and post em..
