Looking for some sage advice. I have a '95 MTX. The radiator fan motor ate itself last week - ruined the fan also, melted it to the motor spindle.
I've surfed the forums and read where Motorcraft RF18 replacement shroud assembly would work...it didn't. Shrouds are different sizes, fan is similar but slightly smaller than stock. The motor will bolt into the old shroud, but electrical connections are different.
I am able to order a fan motor, but not the fan - have to order the entire shroud assembly, but as stated, it doesn't fit.
Ugh.
Anyone know where to find/order a replacement?
Should I go with an entirely different fan set up? (if so, suggestions?)
Shroud = F4DH 8C607-BB
(F4DH-8146-CA stamped on the inside of the shroud)
Motor = F4DH 8K621-BA
Fan = F1DE 8600-BA
I noted after the fact that the Motorcraft RF18 matches a shroud ending in -AA vice -BB.

Standing by for comments/suggestions/ridicule.
Thanks in advance

There is a '95 MTX at a junkyard here in Richmond that appeared to have a good fan - it was a blown diff car.

The motors from the V6 Tempos are the same, and there may be more of them at the yards.

Thanks for the tip - I haven't been able to cross-ref it to anything else. I figured there really SHOULD be something else that uses the same parts.....
But the real question: Is the fan the same?
I can get the right motor @ Advance or AutoZone, but I can't get just the fan.

There was something in the latest Car Craft about using Taurus and Mark VIII radiator fans in hot rods. I think it said where you can get new ones.

WIN!
Kevin - thanks for the tip. Fan shroud assembly acquired and installed. I'm back on the road. I owe you a cold beverage.
Looking at it...I don't see a way to replace the motor. It looks like the fan is perma-pressed onto the fan spindle. Hope I don't have to do this again...

Unless they changed the design from '92 (don't think they did), the plastic fan will come off of the motor shaft. Then you can disassemble the motor, replace the four brushes, and it will be good to go.
