Drove my 91+ to work today....after I turned the car off and removed the key I could hear the rad fan still running.

So I walked away for 10 minutes came back and it was still running....I popped the hood and disconnected the battery as I was in a hurry to get going

Bad CCRM ?? Any ideas where to start?

Take off the plastic placard that shows you how your belts are situated and tap the CCRM while the fans are running. That will most likely stop the fan if the contacts are not welded together.

Do it a number of times and the relay may correct itself.

Getting another CCRM is not a bad idea.

my experience is that once the contacts weld themselves like that, they will either keep sticking or they will intermittently not close with continuity (so the fans don't come on). I would replace the ccrm post haste.

Good to hear from you!

Yes, I believe that is a possibility. The 92s, although they are GenIIs, still have the GenI architecture.

The best way to figure out what fits for CCRMs and PCMs is to go to the ShoSource web page and go to the section where they sell these parts, and they have a great table that displays which parts fit which years of cars.

Is there a way to test the CCRM to know if it's good?

Testing the individual relays on an electronics bench, along with the pinout and circuit diagram. That can tell you no-operation or stuck-on faults, but there are other failure modes that can only be found under electrical load, heat, operation, vibration.

The fan circuitry in the block diagram is a bit convoluted, so I think you'd also want to confirm behavior on a known-good one, but if you have a known-good one, your car will provide the answer.

In very old posts, I remember people claiming they took their units to Pep Boys and O'Reilleys to have them tested. That does not help us much, but it shows there is such a thing, somewhere.

Did you try your 92 CCRM?

Yes I am currently using the one out of my '92 and it seems to be working just fine
