I was trying to find a match for the stock rotors. I have used RacingBrake in the past on modified Subie's with a lot of success soooooo....

I called RacingBrake and they do have a rotor that will match on size from a 1991-5 era MR2.

I have 2 questions:

1) has anyone tried RacingBrake rotors?

2) anyone have an idea of the offset for the stock rotors?

-Rut

BTW, they will do a group order if we have some demand.

1) Not that I know of.
2) Dont know but if they have the 10.9 Mustang rotors they will work for the 94-95 SHO but just need to change the bolt pattern.

I would personally spend my money on the 11.6 or 13" upgrades though.

wait wait.... I know you probally mean SHO, but MR2?

And like loudsho said.... see what they can do about 96-99 SHO rotors, or say 2004 Cobra rotors.

11.6, 13" respectivly

Yep, i know. I was looking for a direct replacement and a high quality rotor/pad combination without swapping out hubs/calipers/etc. I was trying to get by on the "sort of cheap". The rotors from RacingBrake contain compacted carbon graphite ... every car I've had i warped the OE rotors. The spec for the stock rotor matched an MR2 of the same vintage but I didnt know what the offset was.

BTW, they do offer the replacement for the Cobra rotor. Worth checking out if you have that setup.

Didn't realize spending $200 plus on 10.2" rotors was considered "sort of cheap".

FWIW I just bought a set of loaded Cobra Calipers for the gf's gen4 for $190. They're going to go over her plain 11.6s.

If you want to keep the stock size, I would cryo treat the rotors. I cryo treated my rotors, wore out one set of PFCM pads on my car, installed the rotors and new PFCM pad on my brothers car and the rotor never pulsed. I purchased stock rotors then sent them in for treatment http://www.frozenrotors.com/products/frozen-rotors//. I also seasoned the rotors and bedded the pads properly.

I believe those rotors are still in use on GoofSHO4.

Bedding is very important with those carbon metallics... hawks would be simliar I would assume.. but yea I'll say that 96 setup I have... still got most of the pad, and about 80% of the rotors left... if that caliper didnt stick, I'd have em for another 50k or so I bet.

On all of my SHOs, and on my '05 Legacy GT that I ahve tracked for the last 6 years, I have always bought the cheapest rotor that I could find.

That meant $25 Aimco rotors on SHOs and $45 rotors from Rock Auto for the LGT.

Have NEVER had a rotor problem. And I've been running Advanced/Instructor class for years.

Unless you are running a 200 MPH professional track car for 500-mile races, extra money on rotors is a total waste.

Oh, PFCM pads are so '90s, there are far better pads out there for SHOs. PFCM was all we had in the early 90s. Fine for the time, crapola today. BTDT.
