Ok I did a 120k/60k neither were done b4, put the new crank sensor in and found I had a water pump leak, after getting new water pump gaskets the leak stopped but now my Tach doesnt work. I've read on the board that their related and if the tach doesnt work then the CPS is bad. Well mines new, are they that sensitive to moisture? Does it need to dry out or should i just replace it AGAIN??

I'm pretty sure there are 2 things that would make your tach not work. 1 a bad CPS which you already replaced. 2 a CID which it threw a code for.

SHOooo:
Codes? Start by reading the codes...
In his second post he gave the codes it had...

It is the CID Sensor. Check the plug, as sometimes they become dislodged. The sensor is located on the rear bank exhaust camshaft. If you look above the power steering pump, you'll be in teh right area. It is a cylindrical sensor with a plug sticking out the side.

Other symptoms would be hard starting or unusual idle speed. It is one of 2 required signals for the tach to work. Sounds like a replacement is necessary.

Sounds like what its doing. Very hard start, No idle (just sputters out when you let off the gas, No Tach, and sounds like a slight backfire in the exhaust) few other symptoms its having if anyone knows; Blowing oil out of the exhaust(has been sitting unstarted for over 2yrs), oil looks like chocolate milk(just changed though), strong gas oder lingering out of the intake, thoughts?

I wish everyone could decide on a common use of terms for the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) and the camshaft position sensor (CMP). Two different sensors and hard to tell the difference between when everyone calls them both CPS's.

That's why I spell it out, Crank Sensor & Cam Sensor. I appraoched the forum community about the dual use of the "CPS" when I did the whole Glossary thing way back, but most folks just don't weigh it that heavily. Yet, even Ford's mixing it up with the CMP terminology & the CID code. Then throw PIP at it, and alphabet soup is on the menu. :)

Ford didn't mix it up, SAE changed the terminology effective in 93 with directive J1930. The auto manufacturers comlied by using industry-wide standard terminlogy per the standard.

Pre 93 is CID (Cylinder IDentification) and CPS (Crankshaft Position Sensor).

93 and on the CPS is designated as CKP. CMP is used as an alternate to CID although CID is still in use.

Tachometer signal IDM (Ignition Diagnostics Monitor) required both the CID/CMP and the CPS/CKP signals to be input into the DIS module. Loss of the crank signal will prevent the engine from running. Loss of the CID signal will cause the computer to use default "fail-safe" timing for injectors and will cause a loss of the IDM signal (no tach).

If you did anything with the plug wires, check your routing of your wires. You may have a couple crossed.
