not sure but before lowering maybe you should have cams welded before you have a good looking lowered car sitting in the driveway.. just a thought.

ive been lurking around the forum long enough to hear countless times that I need to have my cams welded, i dont need it from another new guy.

I read up on V8SHO.com, but it didnt mention anything about changing out the struts. Im mainly trying to figure out if the SARC will be effected by lowering the car or not, i guess that should have been the question.

You should probably get your cams welded before you lower your car hahaha

You can lower them by drilling new holes in the strut tabs. It will need an alignment afterward though.

I'm not a new guy, and I hear from about one person a month that put off welding the cams in their V8 SHO. They now have a very expensive lawn ornament and wish they had listened to the advice I and about EVERY person in the know gives. Before you do ANYTHING else, get the cams welded in your V8 SHO.

And your question was as if YOU wanted to lower your car. IN fact you said "my car".

Your attitude towards someone trying to give you good advice was unwarranted. That others, including me, repeat it should give you a clue.

You are on a public forum, and should expect people to make comments, accept it in the way it was offered, as a friend.

IMO my SHO is not worth the 800 bucks to weld the cams. It has too many miles on it and probably will rust out before I get my money's worth out of it. At this point I dont foresee my cams being welded unless I were to be able to do it myself.

Well, then in that case, yes, lowering the car is going to have an effect on the SARC activities since they are burned into the control chips for the suspension geometry that comes from the factory. But since you are intetionally driving to produce a future lawn decoration anyway, and it is not worth any effort to save, why should that matter at all? Lower away until she bottoms out and scrapes a hole in the oil pan. All the same result in the end.

Getting my cams welded cost me a whopping $30. But then again the only thing the person did was the actually welding, mine are tig welded and look pretty good too. I did everything else that was involved.

If i felt confident enough to weld them myself I would, I think its simple enough to take the engine apart. I dont know of anyone but NESHO to get mine welded at otherwise. and I am NOT lowering MY car as I stated above, I used myself as an example to ask you ppl the question. and no, im not selling you guys my car for $800.

With Eibachs, the struts lowered as much as possible and 50 series tires will get you lower than you want.

$800? Wait till you price new OEM struts..... :)

I just figured that I would let all that gave me sh*t about my neglecting my cams know that my SHO is now broken :(.

Im not very sure what happened but I was pushing it too far on the highway and all of a sudden the car made an odd loud noise. Thought that I blew a valve cover gasket, but it apparently has been leaking for a while and isn't huge deal.

I called up NESHO today and discussed my problem with them and the car is going out there as soon as we can line up a Saturday to have the cam service performed along with new valve cover gaskets. Im hoping that the car will be salvageable, but Im VERY worried that it wont make the 4 hour trip out to Massachusetts.

I know that more than a few ppl will say "I told yah so!!" and I deserve it.
