If the cable is broke you can put switche in there and it still won't open the secondaries.

before i was to buy a new one i was thinking of alternatives. and i think that the actuator works by grounding the actuator to open the secondaries could you wire a swtich there???

When people talk about "wiring them open" they are talking about the same thing as using a zip tie, except instead they use some type of wire, or if the cable has pulled out of the actuator completely, they pull the cable to hold the butterflies open and then secure the cable under one of the bracket bolts on the valve cover to hold them open that way.
