Hey, i got a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP that puts out 22x4 watts. If i just hook that up to the stock everything (amps, sub, speakers) using the $10 adapter for wal-mart that allows you to hook it up that way, do i run any risk of blowing an amp or the sub seeing the Pioneer puts out 22x4 watts (50x4 watts max) instead of the 15 or so from the stock ford stereo? Is it possible that the amp could burn out after a while, i mean i don't blast the stereo as loud as it goes so i'm not always putting out 22x4 watts right? Thanks for your help

You can do it that way, but I honestly recommend bypassing the amps. It will sound better because the HU's amp is more powerful and cleaner. You also don't want to run a high-level signal into a low-level input.

I would keep using the factory amps myself, when you take into consideration the fact that there's no way it's putting out the same wattage as a full fledged AMP that's 1.5x the size of the deck itself, and the fact that there's a lot more in the unit than the amp.. I've heard that the ratings on headunits aren't even neccessarily regulated, so they can pretty much say whatever they want, which makes sense to me. I know my components sound a WHOLE lot better with my 4 channel amp which is only putting out 30 watts per chanel, compared to the deck which claims nearly as much.

Or just get the "Amp Bypass" kit at best buy, and try it both ways :thumb:

I noticed that the factory amps didn't allow for much volume on my Alpine deck when I had it in there. The best I could do was about 1/3 full volume. After that, the factory amps distorted the sound---and that was with a 160 Hz high-pass crossover on the deck!
