Are there any places other than Shonut and the like to buy motor mounts. I checked with autozone and then have the front right and right rear for what seems to be a decent price. Does anyone know if these are any good or what?? Thanks for your time.

I just installed one of the Performance Plus reinforced front mounts on my car to replace an old, worn out Performance Plus reinforced mount. The reinforcing bolt really only comes into play when the rubber insulator is torn and allowing more than its usually small amount of motion. It does prevent the engine from rising uncontrollably and hitting the hood, but the mount still needs to be replaced at that point. I think if I had to replace it again, I would go with the standard mount. I'm not so sure that the $149 + $10 shipping was much of a deal on the reinforced mount.

Doug,

I've been shopping for motor mounts, too. I tried Advance Auto Parts today, and they showed me a round motor mount, like for a later year SHO, not the square shaped kind on my '89. They were #M6344 Front $30.99, #M6898, Rear $31.19, #M6543 Transmission mount $50.00. Their website shows different numbers: Anchor brand (made in Israel) #2623 Front, #2622 Rear, and a Trans mount w/similiar # I did not record.
Autozone.com also offers the Anchor brand, same #'s and all less than $30 each, but the Anchor mounts are for a regular Taurus 3.0 or other - I have a set here to be returned. Yes, they're square in shape but the front and rear mounts are totally different and will not fit. I thought I had a real bargain for a while there... a bit disappointing, for sure.
Ford dealerships, The Ford Parts Network, Shonut Performance and Sho Shop all have the correct mounts, but at different prices. Sets of all three: Ford $284.39. FPN $241.00. Shonut: $251.73. Sho shop: $347.00. The first two are oem, the second two 'reinforced.' Ford #'s Front F1DZ6038C Rear F5DZ6F063D Transmission E9DZ6068A.
There's the info...You've gotta pay big to get the right parts on some items. I plan to keep shopping around, and let these guys know they're selling the wrong parts.
I'm looking forward to the day I finish installing the new mounts and get on some high spirited motoring... I'm about halfway through the 60k service on my 180,000 mile car.

Ok well Catfishphillip just answered my question. I guess when I was writing my last response he was just posting his. Yeah I too thought I had sprung a deal as well. Oh well... I guess I got to spend the bucks. frown

If you want the best, get the SHONUT Reinforced motor mount. These ARE guaranteed to be the last you buy. In other words if they go bad they are replaced!

I have SHOnut mounts on mine, and I think the front has gone bad. I wouldn't mind a replacement, but you have to buy it, then ship the damaged one to them, then get your refund. I think I'd rather start with a new ford mount, and reinforce it myself, with the help of a machinest friend who's done a few 'kits'.

I as well had problems with mounts from AZ...TWICE!
First was last year when my 3.8 needed mounts. I bought all three (tranny and two motor) and they were more than what I paid for the "SHO" mounts from AZ. Well turned out only ONE of them was the right mount. A month ago, bought all three from AZ for the SHO this time. NONE OF THEM WERE RIGHT! They were for the Vulcan. I remember even seeing "3.0" on them, where as my SHONut reinforced mounts that I got today :) say "SHO" on them.

Yeah, I just picked up a rear mount at AutoZone today and it doesn't look at all like the one in the picture posted above. Hey AutoZone - strike one!

I have shoped around for the motor mounts and none of the stores like Auto Zone, Advance auto parts, pepboys, have them. For the mounts you either buy them from the dealership or SHOnut. You will waste more time and money looking around. I guess some things you just have to go to dealertship for.
