Question on a recall?

Hi all, I'm in the process of picking up my first SHO, A 93 MTX, I can't wait! I put my VIN into the free carfax report, it said that 5 records were found in their database(no idea what those five records were) but it also said that there was an "open recall found" # 98S15 protective front coil spring sheilds.

What exactly is an open recall ( one that was never done?), what is the purpose of recalling the protective front coil spring sheilds? Do they pose a threat if not fixed?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I believe that recall is over. I had it on my 93 ATX. Send me your VIN and I can double check on it through out Frod computer.
