I'm new to owning a 2015 SHO all stock. I would like to change out the 20" SHO wheels for Police wheels and tires as I just like the look more than the ones I have.

My question is what type of tires should I get with the Police wheels? I know the wheels are 18" if I'm not mistaken, but I'm lost on the type and size of tire I should get to accompany them. I was also told I could lose out on performance by switching my wheels and tires.

So basically, I'm lost on how to best go through this process, haha! I really would appreciate any and all help!

Welcome to SHOforum, and congrats on the new ride. Yes, there will be some difference in street performance with smaller wheels, the tradeoff is in a better/softer ride and better MPG, not to mention cheaper tires :) With careful tire selection, you won't give up much to the larger wheels.

To see what wheel/tire sizes come stock or would fit, TireRack.com is a great resource:

I have 245/55-18 Goodyear Comfortred Touring tires on my MKS. Not sure what you are looking for but they are extremely quiet and ride very nicely. They are not a high performance tire, though, if maximum handling ability is your goal.

I appreciate the responses so far, seriously; thanks! After reading what I posted, I believe I was off on what I meant. My apologies for that.

What I meant is that my original wheels are 20" and have the tires (obviously, haha!) I want to switch to the Police wheels, which are 18x8. My question should be: What tires do I need with that size wheel? Also, will I need to change out anything since I'm switching to a smaller wheel?

These questions might be silly, but I'm still learning about this and wouldn't want to make a mistake upon putting money into this.

Here are the wheels I want to switch over to permanently: Ford Taurus Police wheels. So I will be going with all season tires. Just unsure of really anything with what brand, tread, etc. of tire to go with.

Again, thank you for all the help. I appreciate all of this!
