question about the cam welding..

i'm lookin into gettin a gen 3 here some day i've heard 2 different things about this.. 1 u have to have the cams welded on all gen 3 shos.... 2 u only have to weld the cams on certain ones.. which is true... i mena is their a certain year were ford fixed the cam problem??? any help is appreciated

All of them need the cams welded, unless, of course, they've had it done already .
