I installed my headunit, sub, and amp in my 89 SHO about a year ago with no problems. Just recently, i've noticed that whenever i'm at a light with the car in neutral, the bass declines considerably. When the revs come back up when pulling away, the bass comes back. Is this an alternator or battery problem or neither? What do you think? Like I said, this just happened recently. It was fine for over a year.

check your grounds first..

but more than likely your amps is too big, and is putting a huge load on the alt. and at idle it cant kick out the voltage you need....

try turning the amp down some... or just dont blast the radio that much...

another possibilty is your alt. is on its last legs.. after a year or so of constant "abuse"... its finally showing its age...

Do what i did to a friends car go to junk yard and pick up a battery isolater, and a small honda battery. Hook the honda battery in the trunk and use that only for the amp it's great power and only charges it when it's going down in voltage. He's been satisfied for a year and a half now.
