Some modifications are easy and fast, others much more expensive and take longer. In the area of easy and fast with low cost, some form of cold air intake modification is a good first step. And possibly an under drive pulley change. After that, getting significantly more out of the engine starts getting harder and more expensive.

The handling via suspension changes is more easily addressed, and at less cost. Sub frame bushings, strut tower brace, different sway bars and such are all easy and fairly inexpensive, plus there are always wheels and tires, which can make a huge difference.

Are you wanting to modify it to achieve some benefit, or just so you can have a "mod" list?

IMO, the best mods for the Gen 3 are keeping it clean and well maintained, some aftermarket mufflers, transmission improvements, and tires.

I was hoping to get some performance benefit i was thinking about doing, k&n filter, tires, and exhaust mainly.

There is very little to be gained easily in the exhaust system other than changing the sound. Never hurts to make the car breath more freely and make it cold air. Some form of Porterization is the way to go on that, though putting in a K&N cannot hurt. But this will hold better onto the horsepower and torque that the car comes with, but that otherwise is lost to hot and restricted air intake. Past that, suspension and tires are the major things you can do. Eventually, you can rework the programming if you want, a 'tune'. But K-Dawg has a good point in that good maintenance and upkeep are often the first way to think.
