This was my 96's engine bay. I bought it like this. Do they still make that intake for this car?

I am guessing that is a KandN FIPK system? Made the car sound great combined with the borla that was on it. Plus it was hypertech flashed. It moved out great.

Had no problem pulling on my friend's 01 Eclipse GT.

Wouldn't mind following the same setup on my new 99.

That looks like the SHO Shop one. SHOsource now has something similar.

:oogle: They made 2001 Eclipse GTs with turbos and AWD? Last I heard they were V6s....

1999 was the last year of the turbo4.

Correct.

Well, if it was the AWD turbo charged version, there was something wrong with it then. :sun:

pax, smn

I used to be big into these cars, my first car was a 1990 purple/silver 5spd AWD turbo talon.

my never 60k'd oil'd plug wells ATX beat up on a 5spd v6 eclipse gt of that generation.

If you're talking about the older ones, they're not much from a roll either. Different story from the dig, I've seen a close to stock DSM pull 2 cars on a 96 TT supra from a stop, until said DSM broke a shift cable hitting 3rd, the supra would have made mince meat of the DSM in the last half of the quarter mile.

But in stock form alls the DSM really has is a hard launch. They're low 15 second cars. Atleast i know the 1st and 2nd gen DSMs are. the never maintained 94 ATX of mine also beat up on a 91 talon TSI awd turbo from a 30 mph roll. that SHO always moved pretty good when it downshifted to 1st at 30mph.

stock SHO > stock DSM

Modded SHO < modded DSM

I understand i'm comparing 2nd and 3rd gen SHOs but in ATX form they're pretty close matched aren't they?

There were no turbo AWD eclipse in 01. Just the v6, which are pretty slow matter of fact, my never 60k'd oil'd plug wells ATX beat up on a 5spd v6 eclipse gt of that era.
Yeah, the 4 banger with a couple mods (CAI, Catback) is ALOT faster than the V6.

Oh and if you're talking about the older ones, they're not much from a roll either. Stock for stock that is. They're low 15 second cars. I have a DSM buddy that has a modded 2nd Gen GSX. I've ran him a few times on a few different turbos. On his stock turbo, with the boost bumped, I walk by him after 2nd gear. When he got his 16g on, it was about the same but he would hold off alittle better til 90mph. Then he got his 50trim on it running 30 something odd lbs, and lets just say I barely beat him from 80-130 with him just mashing the gas in 5th...... :oogle: Granted, his motor wasn't stock and it was tuned too, by yours truely. I'll need atleast a 250shot to even think about running him with his new setup though... that is, IF he ever gets it back on the road... :snicker:
So.. it really depends on the level of modification of both vehicles... For instance, Tony beat a big turbo GSX that was running very well....

+1 they can launch like crazy.

I had a 94 TSi AWD 5-speed. And it would out launch my friend wrx and keep the lead up to 70. Then he would walk me. He also had intake and exhaust.

I had kandn filter, with horn and silencer removed.

But the 2000-2005? Elcipse GT's were mid 15 second cars when quipped with a manual. With a auto I have no idea.

I remember ****** a 92 TSi AWD with a 16g swap on 18psi?, with my 02 T/A M6(318whp).

But I would never mess with the 06 Eclipse GT with a gen 3 or gen 2/1 sho unless I had some FI going.

Those things haul. My friend ran his 6-speed at US41 and ran 14.5@101 2.4 60'. Compared to my SRT-4 at 13.8@101. 2.0 60'.

That thing was hard as **** to launch. BUt ran right with my srt-4 from a roll. with the nod going to the neon.

Ops, my error, I only lost a decade there. Mine was a 1991 with the turbo and the awd. Fun car. It was the Talon version. We called it the Batmobile. :)

If you got it going a bit before dropping the hammer to get the pressure up, it was a faster than expected car, even off the line.

fyi, if your friend claims he was running 30lbs of boost on a 50 trim , he would be in the 10sec range 1/4 mile..and lemme gues he was running pump gas...lol....don't be fooled , either you or him is blowing smoke...
i know everything about dsm's...

The car runs 10's when he is in the powerband driving properly. Have you ever been in a big turbo car when it is not? Takes for ever for it to spool.

So he was in overdrive when he could should have down shifted and *****, but still held, that is a fast car period. No smoke being blown the story makes sense.

Go to the 7:15 mark. And you will see what I am talking about.

Mitsu Evo Fq400 0-60 3.5 seconds, keeps up with a lambo on the track but loses to a 1.3 Fiat from a roll because of turbo lag, not being in proper gear, and powerband.
:thankyou:
