I started my car up this morning and let it warm up. Took off going about ten mph. Then I pulled it out of gear and put it in neutral to come to a stop. I came to a stop but my rpm's did not drop to 1,000 they stayed at about 2,000. My problems so far are hole in egr tube and non-closing butterflies but i dont think they would cause this problem. thanks guys.

That hole in the EGR tube could certainly be part of the problem. Sounds like you have a larger vacuum problem that needs attention. The longer problems go unattended, the more problems crop up... frown

The idle speed is regulated by the computer using the ISC valve (along with fuel management).

If there is a vacuum leak, the ISC cannot do its job.

Look for a vacuum leak. The EGR tube might cause it if the EGR valve is open. The failure of the secondaries to operate is is also possibly due to a vacuum leak.

Check the vacuum hose from the intake's rear plenum to the vacuum accumulator on the rear plenum. That would explain both the secondaries not closing and a vacuum leak.

well guys, I know I have been a pain in the a## but this problem is not getting solved. Projectsho89 has been a big help(thank you) but I nor anyone at Jim Burke ford knows how to find the problem. They said if it is not broken then we cannot fix it. So far I have checked the main vac., the lines going from the Iac solenoid to the secondary vac., secondary vac. to the manifold, manifold to some thing in the far right middle of the manifold(maybe the egr valve, I am not sure) I would have checked the vac. lines going to the actuators but the space was too small to get to.There is suction in the manifod though. What I wanted to do is take it up to the shoshop during the summer and paying them to fix the problems. But with discontinued parts what could they do? Any suggestions? thank you guys I am really trying. Oh and by the way I am going to wyotech in the fall. (**** yeah) thumbs_u

Does it do this all the time? Or just randomly? Or only the one time?

Start by fixing the hole in the EGR tube. Then reset the computer and set the idle.

I'm not sure what every one else thinks but the CID sensor came to my mind. Any one have any experience with a CID goind bad?
