I just bought a 2001 Maxima and its seats are horrible. I want a 1991 SHO seat in it. How much trouble is it to get the seat wired up if I were to transplant it into the Maxima? Is it just a matter of hooking up 12 volts to the two connectors under the seat, or are those wires and voltages more complicated than that? I know welding is involved, but that's another matter. I'm just worried about the electrics.

Thanks.

just 1 connector for power: 12v & ground.

a passenger seat may have a connector for airbag/butt in seat, not 100% certain on that

I had to unplug three connectors from my driver side seat. How do you only have 1? Glad to know it's 12v. That'll be easy. Thanks.

Hmmm, maybe that seat I checked is a passenger seat.

be right back....

my bad, 1 connector on pass seat, only found 2 on the driver seat.
there are other connectors on the seats wiring harness, but those mentioned are the only ones that go to the car.

I think one connector is power/ground to the seat motors, and the other is for sensing the presence of the operator so it knows when to chime if you don't put on the seat belt.

Then I need to check my connectors again, because I distinctly remember unplugging three different connectors from my '91's driver's seat a few weeks ago. I expected one connector and was surprised to find three. I figured one was for the seat belt sensor, one for one of the motors and the other for another set of motors (since there are three motors). I wasn't sure, though. But heck, if it's just 12v lines, then I should be good to go. I can pull the connectors from a parts car and adapt them to the Maxima. Might have to run one wire, but I'm not sure.

So if there are two connects, each 12v, can I just use one power and one ground, but split it off to two connectors?

The seat has a main connector for power, all you need. Other one is for seat belt fastened, and weight sensor in seat for auto locks, which may not be plugged in if you have a mtx.

Now the maxima may have similar sensors, which if un plugged may cause warning lights or chimes.

The you just need to figure out the mounting of the tracks. Good luck!

Alright, I checked again...three connectors like I thought. Any idea what the third connector is for? 1 for motors, 1 for seat belt sensors, and 1 for what else?

its not that hard to follow the wiring on the seat and see where it goes.

It is when the seat's still in the car. lol I don't like taking the seats out unless I have to. I just figured I'd check to see if anyone knew for sure on here before I pulled the seat.
