Get the codes checked first. That CE light is a sign. There is a chance it could be a bad coil too.

A blinking MIL is an A code, usually a missfire. The reason it is blinking is to alert you that catalyst damage may result from the missfire. Most customers will put up with a MIL but a blinking one usually brings them to the service dept. sooner. Most likely a bad coil.

Bad Coil

My CEL was on for a few weeks a while back. Then it started to blink. Checked the code and got cylinder #6 misfire. Changed that coil and now running as good as new.
I would check the code and change that particular coil.

my check engine light was blinking in my 98 F-150 and as posted above that usually is a misfire, ended up being coil pack num 1 being fried on my truck. So it only was running on 7 cylinders and thats would certainly cause a lack of power. Anyway go easy on it becasue when that light blinks thats bad, when its soild on you can drive it. But blinking, from what iv read in the owners manuel of my truck you shouldnt drive far becasue it could cause engine damage.

On the front you can pull the coil wire plug out while the engine is running and see if there is a change in how the engine idles.
