I believe the squeaks are coming from the water pump pully, or in that general area. Time to replace the belt? Or is the pully actually on its way out? Is this something I should consider looking in to immediately? Thanks all

Does the squeak happen throughout the rpm band? Does it lessen or go away when the engine warms up?

If the squeak gets louder with higher rpm and it goes away or just gets quieter with heat, i am betting that it is a belt. Inspect the belt for missing ridges or torn areas. Those will cause all sorts of noise. Sometimes a bad belt will be silent at idle...

Thanks for the reply. What are the chances that it's actually the pully going bad? Possibly a bearing? I'll rev it up when I get out of work to see if it squeaks consistently with what you're saying.

Pulleys do go bad but if i were you, id check to see if the belt has any markings on it not from the factory. If it does, i would bet its a bad belt.

So the MTX uses two belts as opposed to one on the ATX, correct? I've dealt with the thicker belt that powers the alternator, A/C, and water pump many times on my red 94 as the alternator was chewing them up left and right. But after looking at the other skinnier belt that powers the power steering, it definitely has major cracking and is on its way out here soon enough. Question is, is it a similar set up to remove / replace? Is there a spring-loaded dummy pully somewhere that can be adjusted with an allen wrench, similar to how the other belt is removed?
