My 92' SHO has a odd noise coming from the pulley side of the engine, it seems to be coming from the AC compessor's pulley. What could it be? does any one else have an anoing sound the pulley's? also what has to be done to take the whole AC compressor out? do i just have to change the Belt size to fit or do i have to make some replacement pully to take the spot of the AC's pully?

Man I hope I'm making sense, I've had a long day!!!

Thanks Guys and Gals,

K von....

I believe that the coolant in compressors provide the lubricant in order to keep them functioning properly. Have you had any problems with the a/c? This might be a sign the compressor is going on ya... I hope not...

The Noise is sort of like a smooth metal on metal noise, sort of like worn out brakes sound when you put the brakes on. I don't think it's the compressor because the AC Electrical wires aren't hooked up(the Previous owners doing)so the compressor never ingages, so i don't know what to do to fix it, I would even think of getting rid of the whole AC unit to stop this noise, I don't think I'll ever have the $$$ to fix the AC, It costs way to much!!!!

Try to determine where the noise is coming from by placing a long screwdriver on or near each accesory, see where the hum is the loudest. I had the same type of noise and it was coming from the power stearing pump. I was a bad bering in the pump. hope this helps.

Sounds like it could be one of the belt tensioners. SHOULD be under $100 for the part at dealership, and not too difficult to replace.
