Hey all,

I've never pulled codes from a SHO before, i know that it's pretty damn straight forward and the codes flash at you. But forgive me for being slow i just can't seem to make sense of it. I pulled them using the paper clip method

Problem i've been having is a ****** idle and stalling once and awhile. Recently cleared the computer by pulling the battery, short drive and it threw a code and there it is.

Maybe you fellas can tell me what that pesky Air Bag light is saying to me also.

Thanks all appreciate it!

Seems like you have a 173 and a 542 being flashed.

173 is right bank oxygen sensor not switching, and 542 is fuel pump secondary circuit failure. A search on this forum will yield plentiful insight.

A look into the 542 code offsite:

Wiring harness could be chafing, causing a short to ground, triggering the 542.

Probably time to replace the O2 sensors (might as well do them both).

Are you getting poor mileage as well? Water in the spark plug wells? Change plugs recently (what brand etc)?

Not sure about the air bag light flashing code 45, could be a sensor grounding or malfunctioning from accident issue.

A thread to get you started:

airbag code 45 is telling you that the front center crash sensor is not properly mounted to the radiator support. btw, when the airbag light flashes like that, the airbags are disabled so they will not help you if you get in a crash.

173 is the right bank o2 sensor reading rich. generally, when they fail, they read lean, so before I switched the o2 sensor I would look to see if I have an injector that doesn't shut off or something like that. If no joy there, then swap the o2 sensor.

542 is a junk code on the Gen2 cars - you can ignore it. It gets set any time the engine stalls.
