OK, I've searched and searched to no avail! I do a lot of work on my cars but obviously not even close to being an expert! I have a 2014 SHO PP with only 32,000 miles. PTU had to be replaced under warranty and the dealer also did some minor transmission work - just replaced a leaking seal. I got the car back and drove it for 2 weeks, all was fine.
By-the-way, I took my LMS tune off the car and flashed back to Stock mode before going to the dealer - so I left it in stock mode and didn't get on the gas a lot, guess I'm letting the PTU "break in."
Well, after 2 weeks on my way to work this morning I hear a loud bang and then rapid flopping sounds. Flat tire? Nope! I'm lucky enough to make the last 3 blocks and pull into my work parking lot. I open the hood and see on the driver's side a bunch of oil/grease everywhere and looks to be coming from the "boot" area on the drive shaft. I'm guess the drive shaft came out somehow or broke or whatever.
My question - would this be related to the work the dealer did on my PTU?
My poor baby!!....

It's possible the dealer may have had to pull that axle to do whatever they had to do - either for the PTU or the "minor" transmission work.

There was also a recall on the axle retainer clip that somehow was installed incorrectly on the passenger-side axle. So if your car was subject to the recall, and it wasn't done, that would cause that axle to come out - My 2013 was recalled for it, and I drove it up to 30K miles and suddenly the axle started to flop around and I could feel it before I brought it to the dealer.

For such a catastrophic (quick) failure like yours, I'm leaning toward the dealer screwed it up. But definitely ask about the recall, or look up your VIN online.

FYI, I'm not sure your 2014 is subject to that recall. But it can't hurt to check.

What did you find out OmaHahn?

Dealer stuck to their story, said failed motor mount bolt. Caused engine to tilt or something which crushed PTU cooling lines and somehow caused drive shaft to fail also, blah, blah.... I didn't have any proof to discredit them so i kept my mouth shut. It was all free so I'm just glad to have car back!
