I thought about doing it this winter but honestly decided it wasn't worth it. To put new fluid into the PTU you need to get to the fill plug (and that's the hardest part of the whole process). Once you have the fill plug removed, removing the fluid w/out a plug is as simple as putting in the pump hose and turning it on. I didn't see it would be worth it for the drain plug when I still have to remove the wheel and use several extensions to remove/install the fill plug.Bumping this thread to see if anyone has drilled a drain plug hole in the PTU of their SHO yet. I really need to change my PTU fluid this winter but I am not a huge fan of having to do the process several times over the course of 6-8 weeks. The drain plug route sounds easiest and most effective IMO.
