i changed the clutch on my ac compressor last weekend but couldnt get the snap ring plyers deep enough to remove the snap ring on the field coil. I am planning to remove the compressor this weekend and change the o-rings on the lines that go to the compressor and have easy access to the snap rings so I can change my field coil. I just dont see the obvious way to get the comprssor out.
any advise is welcome.

thanks trent

from what i've gathered, remove the belt, remove the alternator, remove the radiator overflow, and that should be enough space to get it out thru the top.

and i'll be doing this as well this weekend.

You must also remove the radiator fans, and the radiator itself. The Compressor can only come out the top, and can only fit with those parts removed.

Not quite. I got mine out by just removing the Alternator, bracket, overflow tank, and the fan.

Ok, my only experience is with an ATX, which has less clearance in the front of the motor...so it is possible in an MTX to leave the rad in place.

I just changed the clutch last week, all im trying to change is the o-rings where the lines connect to the compressor and the field coil, I was able to get the clutch off last week without a puller. Do I need a puller for the field coil?

No puller needed for the field coil. Be careful about which snap rings you remove. I was removing snap rings left and right (didnt have a shop guide) and removed one snap ring which held a shaft seal in. After a couple more min. of working on the compressor the seal blew out and spewed oil and R12 right into my face (wear saftey goggles.)
