Propane/oil smell? I have a 2016 none pp with 27k miles. Every time I park it in the garage there is a oily/gas smell. I've read it could be the ptu. I've heard of SSM 45053 (ford service bulletin) but doesn't mention 2016s. Should I be worried? Should I take it to ford? Would this fall under the 5 year 60k powertrain warranty? Just bought the car so im trying to be positive. Any help and advice is appreciated!

It should be under the powertrain warranty.
The 2016 should have a vent for the PTU that's plumbed up inside the engine compartment.
Best thing to do is put the car up on ramps, and remove the engine cover and see if the PTU is leaking.

Here is my story:
2014 SHO, 25K Miles
3 weeks ago all of a sudden I get crazy propane smell when I pulled in home from work, and rest of the day I was driving.
I started researching and came up with PTU issue, decided to change oil in PTU, its about that time anyway.
First oil change was smelly business, that smell was all over my garage for week and some how made it inside the house, nasty strong.
Anyway I got 12oz out of PTU, after that change smell mellow out but still come out here and there not as strong.
SO week later I did another change, 14OZ out this time, not as smelly but still had some distinctive smell to it.
After 2nd change, light propane kind of smell once a day maybe.
SO few days after that I was looking for something under the hood and I noticed that the vent tube from PTU was dangling out and not plugged in to PTU, well
I pulled it out to inspect it and found out that top vent filter thing was completely clogged, oil filled the filter material and no air was coming in or out, that made vent hose to come off under pressure and PTU oil was spilling on PTU creating smell.
I removed filter material from that hose, plugged it back on, problem solved...

I am waiting on my PPE Downpipes to be delivered in the week or two,
Once I am working on them, I will do another PTU fluid change and I am planning to wrap downpipes with heat shield tape, the "heather tape" to protect PTU from heat from them and also I will try to install factory heat shields on top as well,
One concert, I am in Pennsylvania, lots of snow, salt on the roads all winter long, summer time heavy rains. I just don't know how that wrap can hold in these conditions. Can anyone comment on that?

The wrap in those geographic locations is known to trap moisture and accelerate corrosion. I would look for shielding and if you are serious about the pipes and heat consider a thermal ceramic type coating like jet hot, swain etc. Look at reviews and do your research. They are not cheap vs wrap. I would also look into whether they do exterior or both interior/exterior coating.
To the OP. What you are smelling is of course something not correct. You should at least consider changing the fluid and also inspect the hose as indicated in SuperPete's post.
His was hose and goo related and other's have had the smell as a precursor to PTU failure. You should not panic just take logical preventative measures and change the fluid and inspect the vent hose/filter. The dealer saying that it's lifetime fluid and they won't do it is unacceptable. Not uncommon, but not acceptable. Find another place if needed or do it yourself. There are posts around here on how to DIY if you need to go that route.
Also, you have the luxury of being under warranty for some time yet. If you are keeping the vehicle for a while, I would consider an extended warranty just before yours runs out. Don't start one too early while still under the original.

Lake coast Indiana here. No way I’d do wrap. Besides the fact that the salt and slop would tear it apart the Jet-Hot 2500 far out performs just wrap. That’s the route I’m going. My PPE’s are being made now and will be shipped to Jet-Hot upon completion. Obviously far more expensive then $15 wrap but driving in inclement weather really doesn’t give you that option. And besides, it’s for the health of my PTU.

Well... I didn’t have exact dimensions to give them so my quote was based off of my best estimation. So, if I didn’t totally blow it on length I’m looking at around $440. Pretty steep I know but, honestly I feel it’s a pretty worthy investment.
