Prolonging the life of the MTX

After reading jocosho's post about blowing up his MTX, I was wondering how you can extend the life of the tranny. Lets say your methods of driving arent going to change and you are worried about launching a diff pin, are there any methods other than spending more than a grand on a LSD?

Making the MTX Last

I suspect these transmissions will last quite a while if we:

1. Change the transmission fluid every couple of years with a quality synthetic ATF.
2. Don't do any burn outs. Front wheel drive cars make poor drag racers and spinning the tires does nothing but damage the drive train.
3. Don't do any power shifts. These transmissions will not take it.
4. Be sure the clutch, shifter, throw out bearing and cables are in good repair and adjusted properly.
