I have been looking at previous posts and noticed similar problems with my car. First off, my car will blow ice cold air for awhile and then it turns to vent temperature. I have taken it to two different mechanics already and they have spent about 10 hours trying to find the problem. There is adequate freon and no leaks in the system (R134a). I was told that the "accessory relay" located on the driver side just above the radiator underneath the plastic cover was the problem. There was power going to the box but not coming out. Every other electrical relay was working. The part number is F3DF 12B577 AA. I ordered a new one from NAPA and with the car turned off and keys in my pocket as soon as it was connected the fan for my radiator was constantly running and the car wouldn't start. I was assured by the mechanic the box was faulty. However, I can't return it and I am unable to find a place in all of Canada that has one. If anyone could help me locate one that would be great. Also, after my A/C stopped working I noticed some other problems. On a hot 90 degree day the temperature guage would barely hit the "L". When the car was just started, it would buck. I'm pretty sure that these issues are all related back to that box.

I'm not so sure it has anything to do with the Constant Control Relay Module. If the engine is not getting to proper operating temperature, I would suspect a stuck thermostat. I would also suggest changed the ECT sensor.

I have done the self diagnostic test and it didn't provide any errors. It just lit up all of the functions on the screen.

Update:

I started making a few more phone calls and finally have a solution. The Ford mechanic advised me that the "relays" sold by parts stores are not the same as factory. He has seen many times that those parts will not work and that the only solution is to find a wrecked SHO for parts. The autowreckers that I have been phoning up don't know and can't tell me if they have a SHO in the yard.

i went to my ford dealer to get a new CCRM for my 95 auto. They wanted about 140. He told me that the regular taurus and the SHO have the same part number for the CCRM and that it should work fine for a SHO. So i just went to the junkyard and got one from a regular taurus. Good luck finding one for a SHO, espically a manual. Mine works fine for about a year now.

I had the same problem. If the AC works when you first start it ..... and then it quits ....... it is most likely the air gap. The clutch requires a specific setting and it can be adjusted (with shims). I took my car to many shops and was told all kinds of things (most saying I needed to replace the compressor) ...... until I found a mechanic who specialized in automotive AC work. He diagnosed the problem in about 1 minute.

Air Gap

Had the same problem and some said it need a new compressor. Simply remove the clutch bolt and take out the two spacer washers to reduce the gap so that the eletromagnet will hold the outer hub to drive the AC compressor. This worked great for me and cost almost nothing to fix.
