problems after timingbelt replacement

Ok, got the water pump and new timing belt replaced (did not replace the crank sensor which im afraid may be the problem). Took it for a couple mile drive and on way back to the garage it shut off. Now will not start. Checked codes and get 111 and 121(TPS). Could this really be something as simple as the TPS or do I need to get back inside her and replace the crank sensor?

back inside and replace the crank sensor. Autozone has wells su242. It's the cheapest one and I've used about a dozen of them with no failures.

bad tps usually does not result in a no-start condition, just an engine with no power - but its possible if it is telling the pcm that the throttle is wide open, because at that point the fuel is shut off during cranking.

replace the tps and see what happens.

crank sensor is your problem. When you changed the water pump it leaked onto the crank sensor. 9 times out of 10 a crank sensor fails due to coolant leaking on it or old age.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will re-check all connections/grounds and go ahead and replace both sensors. Will keep ya posted on how it turns out.

Agree , if it was soaked in coolant during belt change it's probably your problem . Let the car sit/dry don't touch anything else and see if it starts up ok in a hour or so.

I was told by my uncle that a couple of days ago he started my SHO and it ran fine for a few minutes then cutoff again. I havent been over to work on it yet, so no updates. Maybe the fuel system is dirty?? Kicking myself in the rear for not changing the crank sensor while I was in there...

...on a sidenote, if this makes any difference, the timing belt had broke, thus the reason for the change...

It DOES make a difference. Any time a timing belt fails, it throws schrapnel. That schrapnel wonks around behind the timing cover and can VERY EASILY bend the vanes on the crank position sensor wheel...those bent vanes WILL destroy the sensor.

Make darn sure the vanes aren't bent. When you gap the new sensor, check that the gap is the same all the way along the vane and do the same for all 3 vanes.

make damn sure that it is time also i know a few people who swore that had the timing right even tho it has dots to line up but they indeed did not.

both cams up top matching dots and the crank at the 5 o clock position on the line marked on the oil pump and make sure it matches the dot on the crank.

it seems like you were worried about the belt breaking as in it might hurt the engine?
if thats the case no the engine will be completely fine as this is not a interference motor
