So I got the wiring for the aux in completed, and got an old cassette.

It works, except the radio only "sees" the cassette for a few seconds, then it ejects and stops playing the aux signal.

Originally it wouldn't eject it, it would just play the aux in for a few seconds, then stop and say no tape. I had to physically pry the cassette out a couple times.

I guess I'll look for another tape, since it seems that may be part of the problem. Any other suggestions.

i work at best buy and we have a kit that essentially gives you an aux port that wires in to your factory radio if you want to research it here is the sku number 9252159. Just enter it in the search feild on the website they have a few others as well ive been told it works very well. when i have the money i was thinking of doing this as well. some include basic install.

That's just a panel/dash mount 3.5mm cable.
It doesn't help the custom wiring you have to do.

They're all over ebay for about $15.

sounds like more work than it'd be worth when you can just hack the tape deck wires, throw in a tape and call it good.

The $70 BB kit ($15 ebay) assumes you've already done the tape deck hack. It just allows you to dash mount the female 3.5mm connection rather than having a cable come out from behind the dash.

I have a kit for my SLO, that the sound shop installed. It hard wired in a plug for my IPOD into the CD changer port. I have a wire that is in the center console that my IPOD plugs into...it even charges it to.

I hit CD on the football and it becomes live....a bit more direct and clean than the tape route.
