just finished up my lastest project, installing a probe eq in the 93. i've had the idea bouncing around since i saw one waaaaay back in 2000 but could never find one and pretty much gave up on the idea. then i saw jelloslug's install and i knew i just had to have one as well. i wanted it to look like it was factory so i decided to "infuse" the probe faceplate into the front of the console. let me know what you think. for anyone considering it it really does make the jbl sound better. can't wait to have it completely installed in the car!

and now the pics.

Eqinstall2
Eqinstall4

*not sure what is up with my pics, website must be down for a bit..

Aaron, very NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Makes me miss my 94 with the eq and your custom EATC in it :(

Any way hey, let me know how the keyless entry project goes. I would like to try this on my 94 powerstroke. It does not have some of the wiring in there like your project will but i would like to try it.

Funny, I have one of those in progress as we speak :nut: Your's turned our nice. I would not hook up the "signal in" and "signal out" connections on the 6 pin square connector. They only work properly if you are using a single DIN factory AM/FM CD player. They tell the CD player to turn off the bass and treble controls in the audio settings.

I have a probe EQ too. Does that make me #4?

Edit: here are some pics:

Notice that the lack of ashtray where one would expect to find it. I came across an old Lincoln Continental is a junk yard that had the same centre console as the sho. On the SHO the original tape box and front ashtray are 2 separate components. On the Conti there is no ashtray.

Those both look nice. I'm interested in how they help the sound, too. I may have to do this...

And BTW, ohioshodude, how did you get that to look so good?

sweet, I always thought Ford should have included this EQ in Gen2's with the JBL sound. I mean, it's been around since at least 93 right? And with the JBL system being their "high-end" audio option, I think it would have only been fitting. Plus it could have filled in the space the rediculous cassette holder takes up. :p

plastic epoxy, and lots of sanding. also my secret "textured" paint process. :p pretty much just any textured paint lightly sanded then painted the color you need gives the same effect as stock.

so how difficult is it to wire in to your factory head unit... because that looks awsome and i hate the fact i cant actually adjust anything on the stereo... it drives me nutz... also how much control does the eq give you ( how many bands)

there is wiring involved, but with a wiring diagram its not so bad! I agree, there is tons of probes in the junkyards but I've never seen one with the EQ still in it, one had the wiring but the EQ was gone. I ended up getting mine for like $10 on ebay. you can barely see it in the third pic in my sig.
