Unfortunately it’s looking like I’m going to have to replace my transmission in my 4th gen after already replacing the PTU. but does anybody know if I can put the 3.16 perf transmission in a sho that had the 2.77 non-perf transmission? Would it affect the tuning at all? are all the mounting faces, gaskets, etc. the same? I would assume they are but was hoping someone could verify for certain.

I am going to assume that it would affect programming. Different computers will be looking for that gear ration for many different things (speed, slip, etc.). Is there a reason? I am going to also guess that the main body will be the same dimensions but there will be fitting differences (such as for coolers). The main transmission cooler is a y hose at the radiator so you may get away with everything being the same. If you really wanted it for some reason, everything else should be programmable with ForScan.

That's a good question. I don't know for sure but I believe the PTU and rear diff set the final drive ratio, which is the difference between PP and non-PP. The trans should be the same (compare trans codes on the door tag). Someone here will know.
