I have a very weird problem with my power windows. When the car sits outside in the sun (above 75 degrees outside) the power windows will not respond to any of the window switches in the car. If the car is covered in the driveway or started in the morning, the windows work fine. The battery in the car is brand new. The window switches all light up so I don't think it is a connection problem at the switches themselves. I am thinking some sort of module is overheating. I looked at the diagrams for the windows and it does interface with the GEM for some sort of power delay. Also note when the windows do act up, everything else on the car works fine.

Has anyone else had this issue? Could the GEM be overheating? If it was the GEM, I would think it would affect other electronics in the car.

I figured I would ask before I tear into it. Thanks for the help.

I think the GEM interface only allows you to operate the windows after turning the car off and before opening a door for a timed period.

The wire diagram shows the fuse feeds the drivers door switch through the light blue and black wire and then out to the other individual switches. If the windows do not operate from any switch then I would look at the drivers door switch.

I have a prob with the lock out switch from time to time... I just have the wife hold the pass window switch (down) and I quickly flip the lock out switch side to side... it cleans it up for a good while... long enough that I can live with it the way it is... if it starts to do it more often, I'll just pull the switch and either clean it or replace it...

Your prob almost sounds like the fuse is open, only when it get hot... and closed when it is cool.... I know it is far fetched, but swap the fuse with another, just to rule that theory out... Otherwise, I'd have to agree with SHOZ123, and say it is the drives door switch...

Good luck!
