well my rear driver's side window will not go back up. i beleive it is a motor but could be wrong. loose connection? it will not work from both the rear door switch and also the driver switch section. also the lights dim a little when the car is off and "up" is pressed. my question is how do you take the door panel off. i searched and found that it was 3 hex bolts to get the motor out in which autozone has it for only 60$. also it is supposed to rain tomorrow so is there anyway i can get the window up manually?

Take out the ashtray in the door. Take out the screw thats behind the ashtray.
take out the screw where the door handle is. There might be another but their easy to see.

starting along the bottom of the door panel, use a screw driver or putty knife or something like that and start prying the door panel off.
Check the connector, or just put a test light to the motor and see if it has power. Chances are its getting power but the gear that drives the window is rusted.
Take out the 3 small bolts or screws that hold the motor in. when you pull the motor out you should be able to slide the window back up. Put the motor back in to hold it in place until you get another one.

I just did this last week. The electrical part of the motor still was good, but water gets in the door and rusts the gear the drives the window. I tried unsuccessfully to repair it. I have to buy another one too.

Good luck.

go to your nearest Junk yard and take advantage of the cheap door switches...window and lock switches all wor the same way just different identifications....buy the master and back window switches. Trust me they DO go out...I have replaced 4 of them in my time. Try that 1st...its the cheapest;-) :D

well i woke up eraly this morning to take it apart. right now my door is apart. i only had 3 screws (between 8-10mm\ i think) that held the motor in and got them out with no problem. then i stuck a screwdriver in the screw holes and pried the motor off. that was cake. i want to put the new one in so bad, but of course autozone doens't have it in stock right now so they have to order it and it will be there this afternoon. upon looing at the motor it is really rusty and the gear won't turn by hand, it barely moves. the only other problem i faced was prying the door off. i broke one of the things that holds the black plastic snaps. it was the one by the armrest. oh well i don't think it will cause any problems. do you think? thanks for all your help

If you broke the part of the door panel that holds the black platic fastener there's not much you can do about that, but I don't think it will make a big difference.
You should be able to pick up some more of those fasteners from Ford though and they shouldn't be too expensive.
You may want to clean out those connections while you have all that stuff apart. If you don't have any electrical contact cleaner you can use vinegar and a Qtip, works for me.

I was reading in the Chiltons about this, and when reinstalling the motor, leave the blots alittle loose and try running the motor up and down to make sure the gears interlock before tightening them.
