I have juice in the battery, all fuses are good, Battery cables on tight....no power at all to anything. Positive battery terminal is really hot.
What could this be?

sound like something is grounded out
look at the fuse box but the cowl on the drivers side theres a power wire going to that box it powers most everything in the car
then check the fuse's in there

all those fuses are good also. What is that little black box mounted behind the passenger seat on the drivers side for?....I think it has something to do with that.

that's your keyless entry. Did you run a power cable from the amp straight from the battery to the amplifier? If so did you install a fuse on the power line no more than one foot from the battery? Check to make sure there are no cuts or breaks in your power cable to the amp - im taking a wild guess here but maybe you ran the power cable under the plastic trim on the rocker panels - and when you put the trim back over the cable you cut through the cable's insulation grounding it out?

And as for the ground cable coming from the amp - I normally run my ground cable to one of the bolts securing the seat belt to the car - (back seat).

Yes i did run it that way. I was careful not to damage the wire with the screws though...(or so I thought)...that could be the problem?

Your ground off the battery is loose somewhere, or more than likely theres a little corrosion on the terminals and thats causing this. Take the cables off and clean them and check the ground off the battery cables clean them too if needed. If posit. is hot theres a short somewhere check a fuse in the box to make sure power is getting that far and work back out to the battery.

it very well could be. If i were you i would take the trim back off and check the whole length of wire for screw holes. How did you run the power wire from the battery? Not through the door jamb I hope. If so - run it through the firewall. And if it is run through the firewall did you use a rubber grommet to protect your power cable from the sharp metal edges of the hole in the firewall?

I did the amp install the right way...fuse less than a foot from battery, rubber grommet through firewall, and i even took care to run the wire underneath the weatherstripping in the door jambs just so i didnt cut the insulation with a screw...but I could have missed something so ill take a look at it all.
thanks for your help, ill get back to you on what i find.

If the problem is the power wire from the amp, then if I unhook it from the positive terminal altogether everything should be back to normal right?

Well I feel like captain of the special olympic team now. You were right deercrusher, I barely knicked the wire in one place. hardly even noticable. But its fixed.
