As I turned the key to start my beloved '93...nothing happened in the way of noise. All the lights are on but no cranking at all. Could it be the starter?

I have not heard or felt anything to suggest that the starter was failing.

Now a few months ago, I had to replace the positive battery cable connection to the alternator...but even if that has severed, I would still get the starter to turn, right?

Please help...I am WAY perplexed...

Same thing happened to me this past summer. I tried to start the car and nothing happened. So I grabbed a pipe out of the trunk and gave the starter a few firm hits, got in the car and it started right up. I was happy to be able to drive home and know what needed to be replaced.

Where is the positve battery cable that goes to the altenator located? I'm confused. Sounds like the starter isn't getting voltage or if it is it's not working.

From the positive battery terminal, the cable runs toward the driver side...as it then turns and runs down toward the ground, there is a connection to the driver's side of the alternator.

Several months ago, that connection literally snapped, and I had to cut it off and replace it with a part Ford had trouble with matching. Anyway, it works and I have it taped up pretty good.
