Some people with nice stuff in their cars...

Well, here goes..

HU: Alpine CDA-9833
AMP: JL 500/1
Subs: Alpine Type-R DVC 4ohm (crap....and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...)
Box: Custom built sealed enclosure. Fits the Taurus perfectly, Built it meself...
AMP: JL 300/4
Front Speakers: Some mis-matched Pioneer components
Rear Speakers: Stock
Wires: 0g wire off side mounted post, to distroblock. Fused at battery and distoblock. 4g to each amp.

Next up, I am looking for a good set of components for the fronts. Possibly some JL XRs or Focal PolyKevlars, and some nice 6x9s for the rear...

the one thing that I have found COMPLETELY lacking in my taurus is the mid bass. could be the speakers, could be the need of a yet-to-be-installed 300/4, or something else...

i need to get me some speakers. those stock ones can't take the power coming from my eclipse speaker amp, and since i can't turn it up, the bass from the sub doesn't get played.

My little bit of bass

At the time I got my car the stock speaker were mostly junked out and I was low on funds, so for now some cheap pioneer 3-way's at 150w RMS

But the bass is a different story, I never sell subs or an amp with a car, so I carried over my old setup with a new box.

2 - 15" Rockford Fosgate power subs(no clue which year, probably around '01)

1 - 2400w peak, 1200w RMS 2 channel amp

Custom Fiberglass box that leaves me with a fair amount of trunk space still

Sorry I don't like telling who makes my amp, my system pounds! I go for quality of sound mostly, but if I turn it up I can be heard from about 1/2 mile away, LOL

I've ben into audio systems for around 10 years now and prefer an amp manufacturer that is no longer in business, so if I say the name then next time I can't repair my amp and need another one, I might not be able to find one. I have friends that have known me all my life and still don't know what I got. Not into TV's for the car, I like to drive, not park

(You know you have real bass when you have to retighten all the interior screws on a regular basis)

ok its not the nicest but it pumps...especially when she gets warm!!

HD : Pioneer - some several digit and letter model...don't know off the top of my head...bought it for the green lighting!!

fronts: stock - sounds really good with the HD power

Rears: kicker (don'tknow which model) 6x9's

Amp: kicker amp with 700w

sub: 15" L7 in double ported box that slides perfectly between my wheels

seems like i am a huge fan of kicker but i just wanted to buy a sub for the car and start from there...my friend possessed one - told me it was just a sub and box...i got to check it out and turns out it was not only a 15" L7 sub but on the sides were the 6x9's and up top was the amp...all for 100 bones...one of the better investments i've made!! (although i just turn it off sometimes to listen to the engine!!)

Me thinks I'll end up with something outrageous for my Gen 2 Sho. I have been trying to keep the sound system stock so bought a used cd slave player on ebay. The guy didn't have the patch cord so after two months managed to snag one on ebay. connected everything up this afternoon and JBL stereo works fine....Cd appears to be dead. No power, no lights. Any suggestions appreciiated....or will eventually put Alpine R series front and back and some kickin big amp to make it all go! JohnKay

Cap's for the most part are point less. A much better choice is a Yellow Top.

system that was in my 95 SHO
HU,Eclipse 54330 or something like that
Soundstream Exacts 6.3's Front's
Soundstream SVX4 x-over
no rears
Soundstream Picasso Pure Class a 4 channel
Soundstream 10.0 X2 sub amps
Cerwin Vega STroker D2.

No yellow top no cap no dimming no nothing. Upgrade the basic wiring you don't need that stuff.

Caps are a fancy way to make money for the companies. for 100dollars i would much rather get a yellow top and it will work alot better no matter what.

Capacitance is helpful in high power systems pushing 500 watts or more due to excessive current draw which depletes the capacitance in your amplifiers first then draws from your battery (if you don't have back-up capacitance). Large capacitors serve as reservoirs of current that instantaneously recharge when depleted due to heavy bass demands.
A simple comparison would be like a toilet in your house and one in a factory.
Your toilet at home has a reservoir tank that takes time to refill after flushing.
Whereas the toilet in a factory can be flushed time and time again without waiting between flushes because it has large enough plumbing to facilitate
the massive amounts of water required to do so.
This is why systems with lots of power dim the lights in a heavy bass rif because the alternater is working overtime keeping the battery charged and all the accessories operating as well.
Where if a cap was inline with tha bass amp the amplifiers capacitors would rely on their big brother cap to compensate for their lack of size.
In actuality the sub amp designers would use a farad or more of capacitance in their designs if they wouldn't take up so much space.
