i used to be a fosgate freak until they started making crap. the last fosgate setup i owned was a power HX2 12 driven by a 501bd amp, which i thought was absolutely awesome until i put a pioneer premier sub in the same box powered by the same amp and cracked my windshield. i'd love to get my hands on a pair of old school power 12s and a pair of power 1000 amps, though...

just did this stuff tonight, nothing too special but it works for me:

alpine type s 6.5's up front, kicker ks 6x8's out back, jvc hd radio head unit, and a rockford fosgate punch p-4004 400watt 4 channel amp.

after i get my new tires and save up some money ill be adding 1 or 2 10inch subs and an amp for those, but right now this ***** loud as ****. expecially since ive been riding around with only 2 rear speakers for a week.

6.5" Rockford Fosgate Power speakers in the front, 6x8" Rockford Fosgate Power speakers in the rear, with a 12" Rockford Fosgate Power T1 Subwoofer powered by a Rockford Fosgate P5002 Amp in a ported box. All run through a quality old school Alpine headunit.

Not much I would change about my setup except maybe 6x9 speakers in the rear and a 4-channel amp powering the speakers. That will be soon.

JL Audio 360/2 Amp
2 10 inch Sony xplods LOL!

500 watt jbl amp use to power the subs, but it blew up, at a meet of all places. Now the 360 is powering them. Gonna be picking up another amp soon and amp the speakers.

What's wrong with my poor mans special. What kind of poor are we talking here. Meals on wheels poor or soup kitchen poor?

All speakers are powered by a Rockford 650-4 amp. Rockford 6x9 rear deck speakers going in soon. Definitely more power than I need, but it's always better to have more power than less power. I will post pictures of my setup soon.

Updated the system. Sony deck with sub and speaker RCA outputs, JL Audio 360x2 pushing JL C2s front and rear. JL 500x1 pushing 2 sony 10's in a tiny box (1.5 cubes). Hit 133.2 dBs with no rear seats=) Also put the battery in the trunk. Going to components up front. either c2s or c5s

Sony CDX-420IP Headunit
Door mounted tweeters (10w rms)
Pioneer 6-1/2" 2-way up front (40w RMS)
Pioneer 6x9" 3-way rear deck (70w RMS)
MTX 10" Thunder Series 8000 in stock sub box (250w rms)

Still currently running corners with the headunit and the sub with the factory amp.
Soon I am going to run everything through an Alpine amp 4x35w rms + 1x 80w rms.

Thinking about installing Dayton woofers in front for more linear bass.

head unit: old, weak Planet Audio CD/DVD
front speakers: stock
rear speakers: aftermarket (unknown brand)
AMP: Soundstream (disabled... I think is burned)
Sub: Stock sub box waiting to be installed when a new and better headunit and AMP is installed.
I also need to re-wire the rear speakers.

see below.

If you have such a draw that you need a "cap" (which btw is a poor mans way of doing things) then you need another battery not a cap.

ive had the pleasure of picking some of the top minds in car audio and all agreed that using "caps" is the wrong way of doing things.

Steve Mantz, owner of Zed Audio (built the famous Autotek, Hifonics and many others amps of old) agrees. :woo-hoo:

He did a multiple *blind* test with the best ears in the industry and they could not distinguish a capacitor from a wire. :laugh_ti:

For the record, my system is as follows:

  1. Head unit - Alpine CDE-153BT
  2. Front doors - Infinity Kappa 62.11i
  3. Back deck - Infinity Kappa 693.11i
  4. Stock amps for now...I'll install upgraded amps in the stock locations later on
