Hey fellow car enthusiast, My name is Greg Aka :Transamdriv3r" I am a mechanic here in north east Pennsylvania and I also studying criminal justice.
I have 3 cars to my stable right now which include a 94' trans am almost stock ;) , 95' blazer and a 96' grand am.
anyway I'm going to be looking at a 93' sho 5 spd with 177k miles on it. Now I am mechanically inclined so I can fix what ever is broken on it , but is there anything I should look at that closely ? It does need rear struts, are they the same on regular taurus' ? if so i can prob grab some out of a salvage yard up here.

thanks !
Greg

Whats up Greg, if I were you I'd go with new, SHO specific struts - you'll be glad you did in the long run.
Aside from that, the only thing to watch out for (aside from changing rod bearings if you have an MTX) is the tranny (if you have an ATX, you didn't specifiy). Good luck and welcome to not only the SHO world but Ford world. Im sure youlll find a few things on the SHO which don't make sense, just smile and say "thank you Ford" for making my life harder. ,

Welcome and good luck with the SHO if you pick it up. They are fun cars when they are properly maintained.

Welcome ! the SHO came with stiffer springs and struts than the vanilla Tauri. Stock Clutches are a weak point and costly to replace; don't drop the clutch from a start or between shifts and you'll be good. See if there are any records for maintenance; important to do the 60k stuff, and rod bearings if not done yet. Also look for oil in the plug wells; if she runs strong good sign. These engines are almost indesructable and love to be revved.
