possible ways to check a clutch?

hey everybody whats up? hope i posted in the right thread...well i think i found my 1st MTX!!!! :woohoo: THINK, is there any way i can check the clutch like parking it in gear on a incline to see if it rolls or slips? how should the clutch feel when i test drive it? ive only owned 3 atx's so this is kinda a whole new ball game. she's a shiny blue/grey 94 MTX, 156k no noises or ticks from the motorplug wells sem a little dusty but no oil in them suckers im gonna try to talk the guy down to bout $1600-$1700, he was wanting $2500 ,then told me before i left 2k. this thing shines. what else should i be looking for when i go back to test drive and thoroughly look at it? thanks! hopefully i'll be in the MTX world very soon:hdance: TIA

If you can chirp second, chances are good the car is worth it...given your description....

That's not saying you won't need a clutch soon...plan on replacing it sooner or later but don't let it stop you from buying the car.

I bought a 94 MTX and the clutch would chatter a bit pulling out in 1st gear and it chirpd 2nd gear just fine , lots of power but I knew it wouldnt be long before I needed a replacement ,the clutch lasted one year but I was driving 2 Sho's off and on , I would assume if the clutch responds well with no abnormal vibrations or slipping it is good to go. Expect to replace the clutch if you abuse it, among other parts like motor mounts & so on ...he he
