Click on the "Fusion GT" highlite in the 3rd line. Sounds like that was going to be an awesome car. 340hp v6 capable of 415hp, WOW!!!! All wheel drive!!!! Paddle shift 6 speed!!!

Except that it'll never happen. The clowns at Motor Trend mistook the EcoBoost 6 cylinder for the EcoBoost 4. Too bad the EcoBoost 6 will not fit in the engine compartment of the Fusion (not even close). So instead we'll have an AWD 4-cylinder single turbo with 6-speed auto. No big deal to create, it's just Mazda 6 AWD underneath, with the corporate 6-cylinder and the Mazda-developed 2.5 turbo 4.

Just like jwfisher said, it will never happen. :shakeheadFord has ceased plans on that, the SVT team has broken up, the new Lightning replacement is a "Hurricane" that now is on a permanent hold, and another SHO may never arrive for any of us. All we can do is hope that one day it may reappear. The new Ecoboost will hit the market, but not remotely in anything we are used. The only real performance models we may one day see are the cars similar to the ones in Australia. The day is nearing too that the Mustang GT may not be powered by a V-8. :frown: Sad to say, but if you really want a paddle shift, awd, and a hyped up V-6, better look at a BMW.

the new Ecoboost wont hit the market in the us. i believe because of the diesal engine will be make it a challenge so theyre only going to be in europe. also you dont need to buy a beemer just for a paddle shift. the mazda rx-8s have them along with the charger.

Hey,
The Ecoboost will hit the market though here in the US. Here is a quick run down I scooped up: "The new technology will be available in half a million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles annually in North America during the next five years – beginning with the new Lincoln MKS sedan in 2009." I knew Lincoln was getting it first, and the Ford cars will follow. It's going to be strictly gas too, no diesels at all in the cars. The light trucks will get the smaller diesel though. F-150, Expy, etc. And while the Beemer and the others do share the paddle shifter, they options aren't AWD with a twin turbo hyped up V-6. Plus I was trying to keep the 4 door sedan thing going, which would make it closer to the SHO in size and proportion. But the Mazda and Charger are great cars in their own categories too.

That is not accurate. Perhaps you should reread the article.

The Fusion GT got cancelled on the current platform but it is still a go with the V6 TT on the next platform. Circa 2012.

ANd the family version Fusion will get a Ecoboost 4.:naughty:
