possible misfire...

i was driving around today and it seemed to be idling kind of rough then the check engine light came on...it's weird. what could it be? i think its probably a misfire but the person before me supposedly just did the coils and plugs not too long ago...so i'm a bit perplexed.

Go get the codes read.

A place like AutoZone will pull your codes for you for free.

the code came back catalyst deficiency bank 2 so im not sure if its the o2 sensor or the cat itself the previous owner said he had an issue with the o2 sensor and put in a used one and it worked fine for about 300 miles until i drove it last night so it might be that...the car doesnt act terribly like a cat is clogged and the temperature doesnt leave cold so im leaning towards that...i guess ill have to investigate further on monday

That's the sensor after the cat. May be the previous owner neglected changing the coils until the misfiring clogged the cat.

well so far i got the light to stay off and i got it to pass emissions but i'm sure itll come back on haha so if you have the y pipe with the cats lying around i might need to take that off your hands
