If anyone here is familiar with the Police or 4-bolt SFB's, I need a bit of info.

When I match up my police bushings with the Recall kit, it seems like the Recall washer will not fit. There is a prodtruding "shoulder" at the hole that does not fit into the Police bushing hole. I did a Forum search, and someone said that when using Police bushings you do not use a washer, as the Bushing does not need one. Is this true?

Somebody also asks the question as to whether or not you can simply saw off the 4 bolts on the police shims (for rear SFB installation) insteda of drilling locating holes in the subframe. Can they be sawed off (rears) and is there any ill effect?

Any other pieces of wisdom that y'all could share to somebody trying to put Police style bushings in a stock '89 rear SFB location?

Thanx in advance....

I have the Police SFB's in my car. I had the local Ford dealer install them when I had the clutch and a bunch of other stuff done. They drilled holes into the subframe to install the rear ones and did not complain about any extra effort to get them in. I have heard that you can cut off the mounting bolts, but I have no experience with that.

BTW, I bought the Police SFB's from SHONutPerformance.com
Check the site for Josh's great prices and excellent service. ( shameless plug ) :p

DHmag...

Yes they are blue. I bought mine at SHOnut. Turns out there are shims that I should have ordered too (that's why they did not look like they would fit right). If I had read the SHOnut page better I would have ordered them the firtst time! headbang

The police SFB's cost me aboiut $75 at SHOnut as I recall.

Well I replaced the front SFB's today using the police blue jobbies. Installation was easy, although REMOVCING THE OLD ONES was a major PITA. Two of the 10mm small nuts that hold the SFB to the subframe had rusted such that I had to grind 'em off. And another of the 10mm bolts (embedded in the SFB) spun, so I had to grind it off too. headbang

While I was at it I installed the recall parts on the front (not required), although I could not get to the top "nut" on the front PAX side. The old nut was in excellent condition (looking at it from the bottom).

Will do the rears tomorrow...
