Does anyone know the ballpark prices I should pay for a police grill and cowl hood? Also, can I assume these pieces come unpainted? And where's the best place to pick these pieces up? Thanks, Addam

Ballpark figures: Police Grill - $100-150
Cowl hood - $500+

Neither piece is currently in production. Best to watch ebay and the various classified ads on this forum as well as shoclub.com I recall seeing a recent ad on shoclub for the cowl hood. Although I think the price is above $500 and shipping would be extra.

Edit: just noticed you're in OH. Might be able to work something out on pick up for the cowl hood as they are in Cinc. OH.

The CincySHO cowl hoods are pick-up only. They will not ship them out :( But as you are already in Ohio, you should have no problem with that though!

I do recall reading that somewhere. However, the current ad on shoclub mentions that shipping is available. Hopefully, you're close enough for pick up to avoid any damage from shipping.

Definately not "just like" a police grille.

All that grille is is a standard grille, with some trimming. There is no reason why anyone shoulf pay $120 for that grille, sorry to say.

Save you money for maintenance items, and make your own grille.

Personally, I like my own version better than the "bullnose" grille:

Masking tape to make the template, a dremel with a cut-off wheel, and some sandpaper made it happen.

I totally agree, that $120-150 for a grille is WAAAAAAAY too much to spend when you can spend a day of your time and do it yourself.

Notsoslosho: it might be the angle but the drivers side vents look off/crooked. Its probably the angle.

I'm a little partial to the "authentic" police grills as they do have a inserted fiberglass piece that creates the depth to the slots. From a distance, the factory grill and dremel trick look ok. But up close, there's just no substitute........my opinion only!

Nothing like the real "police" grill.

Anyone know how a 91 fiberglass/plastic (which is it?) hood compares to a CincySHO cowl induction hood weightwise?

Yes, although the drivers side is off something like 1/64th of an inch (I measured 150 zillion times... and 10 times after seeing the photo... squint ) the angle tends to make it look a lot worse.

next time ill try it without the MACRO setting on. wink

hahahahaahaha - I wasn't TRYING to point out the oops, I just merely wanted to know if my eyes were playing games with me like the normally like to do.

It does look good though, don't get me wrong - what if you added something behind the grill like gutterguard/grill craft stuff to maybe give some depth?

The cincy hood is a touch lighter.

Well, either way, dont expect to be satisfied with the 'bullnose' grille. Especially for 120 bones ***

its for looks, its not going to run my car and 120 bucks is way better then getting the police grill for 225 and it looks a lot better then doing it yourself.

You realize that the "creator" of the bullnose grill did it himself, out of a stock grill, right? If notsoslowsho wanted it to be perfect he could have spent a lot more time on it and made a pattern to follow using a router. He obviously takes his time when he wants to, his new gauges are proof of that.

That bullnose grill is ugly throwup

All for looks, eh? Well, you might as well quite now. If all you are interested in are mods for looks, then you'll never be able to afford keeping an SHO on the road.

Yes the job I did was very quick. I was more concerned about actual functionality than looks. Notice that my grille has one less slot per side than the police grilles? Not an error. If I had cut that extra hole, the grille would have been too flimsy, and would be at risk of easy breakage.

Yes, the "bullnose" grille is hand cut/sanded out of a stock grille. Nothing special about it except it has two huge holes cut out of it. Quite ugly anyhow, IMO.

Sorry if I made you realize you just wasted some money, but it is true... hand cut out of a $15 junkyard grille, sold for $120.

But again, for reference: lets review the killer styling of that $120 bullnose against my functional $15 junkyard modified grille:

And, to compare: Ford Police grill(around $150 I think I paid). I painted it Semi-gloss black to offset the car. Some people like it, some don't.
