First, this was not originally my idea, Justin Mukalake has something similar on his car. That said....

This is what I spend my slow day at the shop doing:
Grill3
Grill2
Grill1

The test fit is in a parts car, which is why the bumper is a slo and its dirty and the lights look like crap, so don't get all pissy ;) My '90 is what I am going to put it in. I am currently waiting on new headlights though (retro fitting 93 Mustang projector clear lens lights. I am not going to do anymore modification to the grill till I make sure it fits nicely and lines up to the new lights good.

I used a Lincoln Navigator grill (we did a remove and replace a few weeks back and I got the old grill), Cut it down and made new supports. I used the mounts off of the old grill. I also have the lower piece from the Navigator that I am going to put in the lower of the bumper.

Comments are welcome, anyways hope I don't get flamed too bad ;)

I like it, only thing i like to do and did on my truck when i did the billit grill was put a ford emblem in the middle of the grill. I always thought that looked better but some people like the clean look.

I was thinking about putting a Yamaha emblem in the lower right corner, but have not made up my mind yet ;)...

Sho2nv: I was trying to avoid the 'clean your head lights' and 'wash your car' comments lol... since we SHO people seem to be pretty nitpicky hehe...

That would look pretty good. Or you could do something like the GTP guys do and put the small letters S-H-O in the grill in the same spot as you described. IMO, if you do a badge, it would look best in the middle or none at all...

The grill looks good, but I like the way Justin did it better, using the stock grill as a frame around the edge.

The reason I did not do it the same way he did, is the fact that I am using mustang projector headlights. So I wanted something bigger than the grill that was in there already, so I could cut it down to fit exactly between the new headlights... Thanks for the comments, hopefully my headlights will get here soon so I can do a full mock up...

You could always make a "fake" police grill out of a slow grill. A tape measure and dremel is all that's needed. I do like the billet.:thumb:

Are these the projectors that were on e-bay awhile back? I checked his store recently and he doesn't have the mustangs ones anymore. I'm interested in using those lights, but it would have to wait until i had money....

I like the custom look and please post the finished product for us !

........... I am staying with the OEM stock piece though since my SHO takes long enough to get up to temp from a cold start as it is, and with a police grill it would take forever..cold running is the harshest on your internals and I've never had a problem with overheating no matter what the outside temps.

Looks good. I've always thought that the grill could use a little help since in my opinion it's what dates the car more than anything else. I was thinking of creating a frame or hollowing out my old grill and run a wire mesh over it.

Speaking of which I'm with the offset S H O idea in the bottom right or drivers side corner as long as it's small.

Yeah I had planned on a small emblem in the corner.

Still haven't got the lights yet. They are the cheapy halogen projector lights. They are in a black housing with clear lenses. Made for a '93 Mustang, I will be removing the halogen projector and replacing with HID retrofit. So the WHOLE project will not be done for a while.

I will test fit the light housings before all the HID business and will post pics then.

Restrict air ? the air intake is outside of the drivers side fender, not under the hood; the stock grill is actually more aerodynamic at higher speeds than a police or vented grill.....Don't see the need for one since never had any overheating problems and with the throtle body bypass, the intake already runs very cool.

Justin, that looks great- but I do agree on the SVT badge though- it isn't an SVT... Just my opinion though- I really dig that grille! Especially from the front-on angle
