Whats the difference between them and a base SHO? I read somewhere on here that theres a difference, or maybe i misunderstood. Someone fill me in. If it has something to do with the amber turn signals being gone i will start my search for a set.

I think the earlier taurus models (sho and non sho alike) had amber signals. I think all 91 Tauri had non amber lights.

I'm pretty certain the plus tails had amber in them. I maybe mistaken, but it might've been all 91s that got amber tails too.

There is nothing special about Plus tails, they are standard 91 lenses. My Plus had the amber turns, as I think all 91s do. My two 90s have solid red.

Amber turn signals!

In '89 & '90, all Tauri & SHO's had the all-red taillights.
For '91, Ford had a bunch of the '86/'87 taillights
with the amber turn signals collecting dust, & used them to make
the SHO different in '91 than the standard Tauri!!
So it's not a PLUS thing, it's an overall SHO thing for
the amber turn signals in '91.
New window sticker on my PLUS: "It's a SHO thing, you just wouldn't understand":thumb:

actually there are three different variants to the gen I taurus taillights. there is a plain all red one i beleive was only in early base models (mt-5, ect) and there are the two louvered tails we are use to,with the amber and red turn signals.. i'll see if i can find pics!

Just a fyi.....If you switch from amber tails to all red tails your going to need to mod them. The all red tails do not have a hole for the turn signal bulb to fit in. You can solve this by cutting the exact same hole as the other bulb. Then the turn signal bulb can fit and work. I think the red tails uses one bulb for braking and for the turn signal, while the amber tails have to seperate spots for each bulb.

I hope that makes sense.:)

Mark,
That makes perfect sense!
I don't know why anybody would want to switch a '91 SHO
from the amber turn signals to all red. The amber sets the '91
apart from the pack, plus there's also the safety factor.;)

Are you going to the Cruise-In at Quaker Steak & **** at
Polaris tonight? It's from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. With the nice weather,
there should be a lot of very nice cars there. (mostly HotRod's & 50's/60's)
I'm planning on going, so if you make it there would be 2 SHO's!:thumb:

Thanks for the compliment.:) I didn't want to use my tails with the amber turn signals(in case I wanted to have it look original) so I just got some all red ones off of a '89 SLO to nitghshade. RStalveyARFF may be right. I really don't know if all had 2 spots for bulbs or whatnot. It might have been SHO specific or changed during a certain year.

As far as I know '91 SHOs had the amber taillights and '89 and '90 SHOs didn't.

91 SHO PLUS I sent you a PM.
