So I got the OEM motorcraft plugs and want to be sure they're gapped right to 0.54". They are the finewires, not double plats, so is it not advisable to even attempt to check or adjust gap, as there's too much risk of damaging?

I'd read that for fine wires it's best to just compare the lot, and any that look different visually should be returned/replaced.

NOPE.

42 to 44.

54 is too much.

Look at the sticker under your hood.

I've never met a single electrode plug I couldn't gap. Go for it.

I usually just tap the top electrode down with the butt of a screwdriver and a feeler gauge for the gap. Never had any issues, even when bending against the concrete too much! :)
